Identification of the crop rotation with the highest potential to retain and/or increase SOC in the poorly humified Typical chernozem of Moldova; Elaboration of microbiological methodology for assessment, monitoring and prediction of the impact of soil management on SOC of the poorly humified Typical chernozem in Moldova.
Description: 

Three different crop rotations with and without mineral or organic (farmyard manure and plant residues) fertilizers (from the long-term field experiments established by the Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology) are being studied in order to (a) assess the impact of the different management practices on SOC; (b) assess the impact of these practices on SMB and its activity; and (c) establish the relationship between SOC and the microbiological parameters that can be used for SOC related assessments and predictions.
