Preservation, capitalization and tourist promotion of a unique ecclesiastical heritage with historical value, common transnational cultural heritage, by establishing the first religious museum in the Republic of Moldova, Capriana Monastery and digital exhibition at CMNM lasi, Romania, increasing explanations of tourists visiting in 24 months project implementation by 20%.


Description: 

The EnCaMo project proposes new opportunities through cross-border cooperation, capitalizing on cultural heritage, but also economic and tourist development of the area. The project aims to bring the two institution closer (museum and religious) and to strengthen inter-human relations. Thus, in addition to the acction for the establishment of the Capriana Monastery Museum, the promotion of heritage also inludes the organization of information and professional training courses in the field of preservation and valorisation of religious cultural heritage values in order to consolidate cultural identity by setting up the Capriana Monastery Museum, the first of its kind in a monastery in the Republic of Moldova. Promoting the museum, its collection, its activities is extremely important for the museum to be able to achieve its mission. Through promotion, the museum benefits from increasing notoriety, increasing visibility, increasinf its attractiveness.As a result, the number of visitors to exhibitions, partitipants in its project increases, relations with various stakeholders are improved, and the museum becomes more credible in attracting funds or new partners.


Actions Components: 

Preparatory steps in Capriana Monastery MC:

- aquisition of the microclimate monitoring system and microclimate stabilization equipment, so that after the completion of the conservation procedures of the reliques, they could be presented in the newly opened

museum, according to the instructions received from the Applicant

- aquisition of the specific furniture for the museum room, according to the instructions received from the Applicant

- participating at the training sessions offered by the CMNM lasi for the monks, where they will learn the

- special techiques for the preservation and valorisation of religious heritage

- aquisition of the printing services and related services

- ensuring a proper opening of the CM Museum event

- statistical analysis of the overnight stays of the tourists in the area


Activity Summary: 

The project aims to transfer best practices in the field of protection and valorisation of cultural heritage in the cross-border region. It aims to improve knowledge, attitudes and practices for cultural heritage protection by organizing courses for MC clerics so that they learn the methods of preserving and displaying religious artifacts according to the rules. Specialists from the CMNM team will go to the MC to monitor the microclimate of the museum space and to learn how to use the equipment purchased for this purpose. The institutional collaboration and the mobility of the field specialists between the two institutions determines the cultural institutions, local authorities and communities in the region concerned to be involved in activities promoting and valorising a valuable cultural and religious heritage.

Purpose:

The aim of the project is the conservation, valorisation and touristic promotion of the unique ecclesiastic patrimony, with historical value, a common trans-national heritage, by establishing, at Căpriana Monastery, the first religious museum based on an ecclesiastic heritage discovered during the archaeological researched conducted at Căpriana Monastery, Republic of Moldova and through the organization of a permanent digital exhibition at ”Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iași, Romania, with the purpose of increasing the number of tourists.

The project foresees the procurement of museum display products (display cases, display supports), an Info touch, a laptop, a video projector and a screen for the Museum of Căpriana Monastery, while for ”Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iași, high performance equipments will be purchased in order to create an exhibition using the immersive digitization technology, as well as an automobile.

Apart from the procurement of the equipment necessary to establish the Căpriana Monastery Museum and the permanent exhibition at ”Moldova” National Museum Complex of Iași, the project equally foresees several activities, among which: training in the field of conservation and museum valorisation of the archaeological ecclesiastic heritage, the organization of an international symposium, a temporary exhibition comprising the artefacts of the future museum of Căpriana Monastery, as well as common activities to promote the project and disseminate the results. 


Results: 

Through the proposed theme, the project is mainly part of the Joint Operational Program Romania - Republic of Moldova 2014 - 2020, (T03) PROMOTING LOCAL CULTURE AND CONSERVING HISTORICAL PATRIMONY preserving cultural and historical heritage in the eligible area, supporting the development of 
local culture, specific cultural identities and cultural dialogue, Priority 2.1 - Conservation and promotion of cultural and historical heritage. 
The project offers immediate practical results and shows a high potential for economic and tourist development of the area. The results of this project include the development of innovative services of  ecclesiastical archaeological heritage exposure. In terms of social impact, diverse categories of audiences  
will benefit from a new, unique museum that allows access to religious, artistic and historical education services. It also responds to new trends in museum studies on visitor orientarion, on-line development of collections, and increased interaction with the visitor. Novelty is the active and modern character of ecclesiastical heritage approach and interaction with the public, according to vizitors' feedback. The creation of a museum space, according to a scientifici and modern museographic conception, first of it s kind, within a monastery in the Republic of Moldova, aiming both at the protection and the introduction in the cultural-religious-tourist circuit values of Christian spirituality of the ecclesiastical belonging to Saint Hierarch Gavriil Banulescu Bodoni.
