Project Title:
Enhancing Technical Capabilities for Decommissioning of Near Surface Radon Type Facility and Environmental Remediation
AMP ID:
8721170714223

Status:  Ongoing
Status Reason:
Objectives:

To enhance the technical capabilities of the National Radioactive Waste Management Organisation for Decommissioning of Near Surface Radon Type Facility and Environmental Remediation

Description:

The proposed project is focused on enhancing the technical capacities of the country in decommissioning activities that include the retrieval of legacy waste as well as environmental remediation. It will include the development of a Safety Case (SC) for performing the decommissioning of activities and facilities, containment construction and any other supporting premises (i.e. buffer storage, presorting facility of the retrieved waste) and the procurement of the technological and radiation equipment for decommissioning activities and environmental remediation. Also, it foresees training activities of personnel in decommissioning and radioactive waste (RW) management. The project does not foresee any works regarding retrieval of legacy waste from Radon type facility, addressing only preparatory works for the future decommissioning, waste treatment and environmental remediation activities. All of these activities are in full compliance with the National Strategy on Radioactive Waste Management for 2017-2026.

Actions Components:

1 .1   To develop and review of SC for the decommissioning infrastructure and related activities
1 .2   To establish the decommissioning infrastructure
1 .3   To enhance the capacity in Pre-treatment, treatment and conditioning activities.
2 .1   To procure the heavy duty technological equipment for Decommissioning
2 .2   To procure the technological equipment of general purpose
3 .1   To procure the Radiation Monitoring Equipment for workplace monitoring
3 .2   To procure the Radiation Monitoring Equipment for control of workers exposure
3 .3   To procure the Radiation Monitoring Equipment for Characterization of radiological properties
