Objectives: 

The project is aimed at fighting discrimination against women/the LGBT community and promoting gender equality in the Republic of Moldova through two main components which are 1) building capacity of women/LGBT organisations and activists and 2) increasing public awareness on gender equality issues.  


Description: 

The project will contribute to fight discrimination against women/the LGBT community and promote gender equality in Moldova through 1) capacity building and 2) awareness raising components. Specifically, within the framework of the 1st component, the project envisages trainings for the women’s organisations based on the findings of the needs assessment and supporting the implementation of the strategies. The 2nd component will focus on comprehensive coverage of the gender-related issues pertinent to Moldovan’s context through TV talk shows, onsite meetings with the audience, a series of events on the occasion of the 8th of March, and established network of librarians.

A2.1) Awareness raising events on women issues organized in a network of Libraries across Moldova

A2.2) Advocacy events in the frame of the 8th of March International Women’s day

A2.3) Development and broadcast of one season of the talk show “Optmart SRL

A2.4) Offline meetings with “Optmart SRL” audience in Chisinau and 7 raions


Memo: 
Purpose:

To build the capacities of women’s/LGBT rights organisations and activists to better promote women’s and LGBT rights

To advocate and raise awareness to promote gender equality and prevent all forms of discrimination against women and LGBT communities


Results: 

A 0.1) Outputs: an inception meeting report, an implementation plan including: updated timeline, M&E plan, updated methodology, updated budget, and a communication strategy and visibility guidelines. IREX Europe financial guidelines and documents adapted and shared with the co-applicants. 1 intermediary meeting’s reports and updated implementation plans as required. 1 final meeting report, assessing all the project lessons learned, the next actions to be undertaken to ensure sustainability and a presentation to various stakeholders about the project’s results and outcomes.

A 0.2) Outputs: 1 Steering Committee is set up as demonstrated by the list of SC members, SC participation and voting rules, agreed communication, SC minutes

A 1.1) Outputs: 30 organisations, members of the Gender Equality Platform have answered the questionnaire and assessed their organisational and strategic capacities

A 1.2) Outputs: 10 women organisations (at least 40% from regions) receive capacity building training and grants to develop/implement their strategy developed based on the in-house assessment.

Outcomes: 10 women organisations are strengthened and more sustainable

A1.3) Outputs: 2 National Leadership Academies are organised. Each Academy will include two sessions and will be a total of 3 days. 60 participants will attend. At least 50% will be from the regions outside Chisinau and 20% will be victims of intersectional discrimination.

Outcomes: 60 participants learn about leadership, campaigning, anti-burnout etc, 80% increase their knowledge

A1.4) Outputs: 20 grants are awarded and implemented to promote women/LGBT rights.

Outcomes: At least 2000 people across Moldova see the campaigns and learn more about the rights of and discrimination faced by women and LGBT people

A 1.5) Outputs: 20 small grants are provided to build resilience of women/LBT activists or women/LGBT organisations.

Outcomes: 70% of participants say they are better able to work sustainably following the training

A 2.1) Outputs: At least 25 awareness raising events on women’s issues are organised in local libraries, 70% outside of Chisinau. At least 250 people will attend the events in total.

Outcomes: At least 250 people increase their knowledge about women’s rights

A 2.2) Outputs: 8 events are organised each year for International Women’s Day. At least 300 people participate in the events each year

Outcomes: The events will be the subject of at least 40 articles, reports and show in the media

A 2.3) Outputs: 1 season and 12 programmes of the talk show “Optmart SRL” are produced and broadcast.

Outcomes: The TV series will be viewed 600,000 times; average of 50,000 unique viewers per show

A 2.4) Outputs: 1 “Optmart SRL Offline" organised in Chisinau and 7 “Offlines” in other raions

Outcomes: At least 800 participants in the “Optmart SRL Offlines" (at least 300 in Chisinau, 200 in Balti and 50 in each other location). At least 60% increase their knowledge about women’s rights and the issues that affect women.
